Commercial Recycling Partnership with Rutherford County
At SpringBack Recycling, we’re not just breaking down mattresses—we’re building up lives, communities, and a more sustainable future. And now, we’re excited to share that a promising new partnership is on the horizon with Rutherford county to process and recycle mattresses.
We’re currently in advanced discussions with Rutherford County, Tennessee, to bring our innovative commercial recycling model to their community. While the partnership isn’t official just yet, the groundwork is being laid, and we’re optimistic about what’s to come. Stay tuned—an official announcement is just around the corner.
Why This Commercial Recycling Partnership Matters
Rutherford County is one of the fastest-growing regions in Tennessee, and with growth comes challenges—especially in waste management. Our potential collaboration aims to address these challenges head-on by introducing a scalable, cost-effective solution for mattress disposal and mattress processing.
SpringBack’s model is a win-win: we divert bulky, non-biodegradable mattresses from landfills while creating paid, skill-building jobs for men overcoming homelessness, addiction, and mental health challenges. It’s a mattress disposal business opportunity that delivers both environmental and social returns.
What’s in the Works for Commercial Recycling Partnership with Rutherford County?
If finalized, the partnership with Rutherford County would include:
- Commercial recycling services tailored to local businesses, hotels, universities, and municipalities
- Curbside pickup and drop-off options for residents and commercial clients alike
- Community collection events to reduce illegal dumping and promote responsible disposal
- Job creation through our nonprofit workforce development program
- Landfill space savings—with over 500,000 mattresses already recycled, we’ve proven we can extend landfill life by decades
This initiative would also open doors for local entrepreneurs and service providers interested in expanding into the commercial junk removal space. By integrating with SpringBack’s operations, they can offer mattress disposal as a value-added service—creating a ripple effect of economic opportunity.
The Bigger Picture
Every day, Americans dispose of 50,000 mattresses. Most end up in landfills, taking up valuable space and contributing to environmental degradation. But 95% of mattress materials can be reused to create new products. That’s where we come in. The mission is rooted in transformation—of materials, of lives, and of communities. We’ve already diverted over 40 million pounds of waste and saved an estimated 40 million cubic feet of landfill space. And we’re just getting started.
As Mac Nolen, Solid Waste Director of Williamson County, put it:
“Nobody was more skeptical than me, but it’s truly worked out better than I would have imagined. There have been substantial environmental and economic benefits to recycling mattresses, especially when landfill avoidance costs are taken into consideration.”
What’s Next?
We’re thrilled about the possibility of the potential commercial recycling partnership with Rutherford County, and soon to be Montgomery county and city of Murfreesboro, Tennessee and look forward to sharing more details soon. In the meantime, we invite local leaders, businesses, and residents to explore how commercial mattress recycling can be part of a smarter, cleaner future.
